This is the Dog! Relay for Life Team Page
We relay to get closer to victory for one year old Gianna Hess. She is battling a rare form of liver cancer.
This is the Dog! will be raising money with "Dog Walking for Dollars!" Stop by our tent and for a $1.00, $2.00
(or more) donation, walk a dog around the track (with a volunteer). For those people and children that do not
have a dog, this is a fun opportunity and great therapy! This is the Dog! will also will be selling Neon Yellow
Shoelaces in support of pediatric cancer. This is the Dog! T-shirts and Luminaria bags will also be for sale. All
proceeds will help us to help reach our goal of $500.
To help spread the awareness of the importance of dogs in therapy, we will have information on therapy dogs. They
are amazing in the healing process. In addition, we will have information about cancer in dogs. Unfortunately, we
have had several adoptable dogs pass away this year from cancer and it is so important to catch it early. The
brochure details what signs to look for.
The impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could do alone! Woof! Thank you! Hope to see you there!
For Gianna -
May God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things which
others tell you cannot be done. You have great days ahead of you. May there be many of them. - Author Unknown

This Is The Dog! is a
501c3 non-profit animal adoption/rescue in Homestead. Our main
mission is to help solve the pet overpopulation problem. We will
spay/neuter every animal before adoption and encourage the community
to spay/neuter their pets. We firmly believe that the education of
humane care of animals and spay/neuter programs are the answer and
the hope in stopping pet overpopulation and animal abuse. Our goal
is to teach the community to act responsibly in the care of their
own pets while also looking out for those animals which are
homeless. This is the Dog! does not have a shelter and we depend on
community efforts to help us accomplish our mission. We are a small
group of volunteers that are making a difference.
This is the Dog! operates entirely on charitable donations and
adoption donations. We maintain partnerships with local
veterinarians to help manage some of the costs. We have community
fundraisers to help collect donations from the public. We also
accept monetary donations and pet food and supply donations.
We always need volunteers during our adoption shows and special
events to groom, feed, walk the dogs, set up cages, and collect
donations. Also, volunteers play with the cats and talk to people
that come in and ask about our group and what we do. Persons age 12
and older (with parental supervision) are eligible to volunteer and
can also receive community service hours. All volunteers must
complete the Volunteer form and bring it with them the day they
start volunteering. Send an email to pets@thisisthedog.com for
information.
